Cheryl Frey is a painter, illustrator, designer and art instructor living and working on Long Island. Born in Elyria, Ohio in 1977, Cheryl began her artistic journey through her box of 64 crayola crayons (the ones with the sharpener on the back). She frequented the Cleveland Museum of Art once obtaining her drivers license and then drove off to Valparaiso University for more formal training in Studio Art and Art History. After graduation, Cheryl moved around the Midwest and East Coast of the US, finally landing on Long Island, NY. While raising 2 children and still painting, she started a small business centered on teaching cross curriculum Art classes to the public. While Cheryl continues to teach to this day, her own artistic practice continues to thrive.

Focusing on the human experience of recall and mental imagery, Cheryl uses paints and collage techniques to reimagine moments in time. She finds influence from everyday objects and places them amongst fantastical landscapes. Her paintings combine the warping of memory and the presence of instant photography in daily life.

Cheryl still frequents museums and galleries and loves to hear others' reactions and stories regarding their interaction with the art they view. Most recently she has been inspiring young artists to pursue careers in the Arts and helping them build portfolios and engage in new creative ideas.
